Hi, I am Maria.

I am a ceramic artist and art student living in Glendale, California. Most days you will find me with clay on my hands, building objects slowly and intuitively, letting each piece grow step by step.

My main focus is hand built ceramics and sculpture. I make decorative pieces for interiors, like vases, pots and tableware, and I also create small animal figures and mythical creatures that quietly borrow human traits. They often feel like little characters to me, each with its own mood and attitude, as if something is happening in their world just outside what you can see.

I like making objects that feel alive. The shapes are usually simple, but I pay a lot of attention to surface, color and tiny details that only show themselves when you come closer. Finger marks, small irregularities and soft changes in texture are important in my work. I want people to be curious, to turn a piece in their hands and notice the small hints of personality hidden in it.

Working with clay is my way of giving form to movement, emotion and character. It is a very physical and personal process, rooted in touch, patience and play. Through my ceramics I am trying to build a small world where objects breathe lightly, hold quiet stories inside their shapes, and remind us how much beauty there is in imperfection, vulnerability and the handmade.
